KUALA LUMPUR, 19 October 2023 – Urbancubes Sdn. Bhd. (USB), a leading industrial park manager is pleased to announce a significant milestone in its growth strategy with the signing of a 2-years agreement with Wistron Technology (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Wistron) in the transformation of temporary labour quarters (TLQ).

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd, a member of Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor), USB has embarked on an exciting venture in the temporary labour quarters located in the Indah Point in Pulau Indah, Klang. The TLQ exemplifies adherence to JTK’s Act 464 and Responsible Business Alliance’s (RBA) guidelines, aligned with the Selangor State’s mission to provide secure and comfortable accommodation for foreign workers.

The agreement exchange today was witnessed by Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, the Selangor State Secretary, Y.B. Dato’ Haji Haris Kassim, Invest Selangor Chief Executive Office, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Hasan Azhari Bin Hj. Idris and Selangor Deputy State Secretary (Management), Tuan Haji Mohamad Zahri Bin Samingon.

“We are thrilled to have secured this 2-years agreement valued at RM2.4 million for our temporary labour quarters with Wistron to address the pressing need for improved living conditions of workers” said Shahrulnizam Ahmad, General Manager of Urbancubes. “By combining our industry knowledge and experience, the state-of-the-art facilities and amenities provided at the temporary labour quarters will ensure the well-being and satisfaction of the workers, enabling them to focus on delivering high-quality services/products”.

Headquartered in Taiwan, Wistron is one of the world’s largest suppliers of information technology communications. Wistron was awarded with “The Highest Investment in Selangor by Foreign Company” in both 2019 and 2021 by Invest Selangor. Since 1980s the cumulative investments made by Taiwanese companies by the end of 2022 has reached USD14.1 billion, making it as the 8th largest investor in Malaysia.

The temporary labour quarters will serve as a fundamental hub for Wistron’s workforce, providing a conducive and comfortable living environment located at Indah Point, Pulau Indah, Port Klang. By centralising the accommodation, Wistron aims to foster a sense of community and camaraderie among its workforce, resulting in increased collaboration and productivity.
